When the downturned economy had everyone scrambling for ways to cut costs, Dasha Nixon did the same thing at the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Tallahassee, Fla.
Nixon is the business manager at the Co-Cathedral of the diocese of Pensacola. The large diocese has more than 60 parishes. At St. Thomas More, the congregation is more than 2,000 members strong, with many parishioners being students from nearby universities.
Nixon says that like other businesses, the weak economy had the church looking for ways to cut back on spending, and offering envelopes happened to be an area to save a few dollars.
“We usually send the bid out to several vendors,” Nixon explains. “And when the bids came back, we made the decision to use a low-cost provider.” Previously, St. Thomas More purchased their envelopes from Our Sunday Visitor, the nation’s leading supplier of offertory products and services, including offering envelopes.
