The Reverend William J. Byron, S.J., is University Professor of Business and Society at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. He is past president of the University of Scranton, The Catholic University of America, and Loyola University of New Orleans. From 1992 to 2000, he taught "Social Responsibilities of Business" in the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, where he held an appointment as Distinguished Professor of the Practice of Ethics and served as rector of the Georgetown Jesuit Community.

He is the author of 14 books and the editor of two. He writes a bi-weekly column for the Catholic News Service Syndicate and a monthly column for Catholic Digest.


Jay Einspanier

Mr. Einspanier is currently an adjunct professor in the Villanova School of Business where he has taught for nine years in graduate business courses. His area of expertise is in Marketing and has taught courses focused on branding and marketing strategy. Additionally, Mr. Einspanier has lectured as part of the Masters of Science in Church Management program.

Mr. Einspanier is currently a Parish Administrator for the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. In this role, he is responsible for all financial reporting and budgeting, contractual negotiations and relationships as well as program support. He serves on the Vestry, Buildings and Grounds, Project Management as well as the Growth and Development Committee.

Mr. Einspanier holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelors of Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. During his career, he has held management positions with companies such as Booz Allen & Hamilton, Proctor & Gamble, Omnicare and ARAMARK. His experience includes sales, marketing, operations management as well as senior staff roles.


Carol Fowler

Carol Fowler retired the summer of 2012 as the Director of the Department of Personnel Services for the Archdiocese of Chicago.  She coordinated the work of 17 Archdiocesan agencies, which oversee all of the human resources functions for laity, religious, and clergy of the Archdiocese. The Archdiocese employs about 16,000 people. As one of the seven Archdiocesan department directors, she served on the Cardinal’s Administrative Council. She served the Archdiocese in this role since 1991.

Ms. Fowler was the President of the National Association of Church Personnel Administrators and served on the board of Regina Dominican High School. Carol is a member of the Board for the National Leadership Roundtable on Church Management. She was also a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for the Study of Church Management at Villanova University and a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.

She holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from St. Mary’s Seminary and University, Baltimore. Her doctoral project was on lay ecclesial ministry.  She has a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology and a B.A. in Social Science with a secondary teaching certificate from Michigan State University. The Human Resources Certification Institute of the Society for Human Resource Management certifies Ms. Fowler as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.


Steve Hewitt

A graduate of Southwest Baptist University, Steve Hewitt became an early pioneer in using computers and programs as a ministry tool. Steve served as a pastor for 15 years before   founding and becoming editor-in-chief of Christian Computing Magazine in 1989. He continues in that role, and is also co-founder and editor in chief of Christian Video Magazine and he reports weekly on the latest technology tools on the PrimeTime America radio show.  In these roles he has been instrumental in the acceptance, adoption, and use of technology in Christian churches.

 


James W. Klingler

Jim is the Associate Director of the Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE) Center at Villanova and a member of the Management and Operations Department in the Villanova School of Business (VSB).  A 1968 graduate of Bucknell University in Economics, he then entered the U.S. Navy and served three years as an officer.  After his service, Jim then enrolled at Temple University to study Industrial Relations and Organizational Behavior, receiving his Ph.D. 1985.  He joined VSB’s faculty “temporarily” in 1979 while working on his dissertation, and remains in that “temp” job to this date.  He has taught courses in Management, Industrial Relations, Organizational Behavior, Leadership, Strategy and Policy, Small Business, and Entrepreneurship at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Recently he was part of a team that developed an innovative course in Leadership, Ethics and Catholic Social Thought for the Masters of Science in Church Management program in VSB.  Jim received the inaugural Meyer Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship award in May of 2009.  He has been married for over 40 years, and has 2 children and a one year old first grandchild.


Mark Mogilka

Mark currently serves as Director for the Department of Stewardship and Pastoral Services for the Catholic diocese of Green Bay, Wisconsin. He has continuously served in various Catholic diocesan office ministries serving parish leaders for the past 35 years. For about the past 20 years one of his major responsibilities has been to assist parishes and the diocese in the development and implementation of pastoral plans. In 2007 Mark was awarded the Yves Congar Award by the national Catholic Pastoral Planners organization (CPPCD) for “extraordinary service, initiative, creativity and sharing in planning and consultation.” He has written several articles in Catholic periodicals on topics related to pastoral leadership and planning.

In 2009 he co-authored a book with Dr. Kate Wiskus entitled “Multiple Parish Pastoring”. He is a frequent presenter at national and diocesan conferences and workshops for church leaders.  He has a Master of Science degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Arts degree in Religious Studies from the University of Detroit.

Mark is married, father of four mostly grown children and five perfect grandchildren. 


Michael Moreland

Professor Michael Moreland joined the Villanova faculty in 2006. Professor Moreland received his B.A. in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame, his M.A. and Ph.D. in theological ethics from Boston College, and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. His scholarly interests focus on torts, bioethics, and law and religion. At Villanova, he teaches Torts, Evidence, Bioethics and the Law, Advanced Torts, Justice and Rights (1L elective), and seminars in bioethics and in Catholic social thought. Following law school, Professor Moreland clerked for the Honorable Paul J. Kelly, Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and was an associate at Williams & Connolly in Washington, D.C., where he represented clients in First Amendment, professional liability, and products liability matters. Before coming to Villanova, he served as Associate Director for Domestic Policy at the White House, where he worked on a range of legal policy issues, including criminal justice, immigration, civil rights, and liability reform. During academic year 2010-11, Professor Moreland was the Forbes Visiting Fellow in the James Madison Program at Princeton University.

Jim Reaves has been teaching undergraduate, graduate and MBA classes at Villanova University for the past 21 years as an Adjunct faculty member. During this time, he has taught operations, security, fraud, loss prevention and threat management workshops to graduate Criminal Justice and Human Resource professionals and MBA students. He was recently awarded the Outstanding Instructor for 2011 in the Villanova School of Business.

Jim has thirty-five years of corporate, private and governmental related experience with twenty years of management experiences serving in various operational, supervisory and managerial positions in the operations, corporate security, fraud and loss prevention field. For the past sixteen years, he has been managing the worldwide business continuity, crisis management, loss prevention and fraud investigation program for QVC. Jim has also assisted local parishes on church security matters.


Bill Wagner

Bill Wagner has been teaching, consulting, and conducting research in Information Systems since 1988. He received his PhD in Information Systems from the University of Kentucky in 1992, and has been on the faculty of Villanova University for the past twenty years.  Dr. Wagner has developed over 20 innovative new courses, including courses on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Business Intelligence, IT for Financial Services, IT for Church Management, and most recently, Mobile Application Development.  His research includes topics in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and E-Commerce and has appeared in many internationally known journals.  He has co-authored texts on eXtensible Markup Language (XML), (2003), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) (2007), and Excel 2010 Comprehensive (2011).


Michael Castrilli

Michael Castrilli provides collaborative decision making support and training to a diverse portfolio of government and commercial customers. Michael assists clients on a variety of key business decisions including budget allocation, capital planning, R&D portfolio management, human resources management, and strategic planning.

Prior to joining Decision Lens, Michael was a scholastic with the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales and treasurer of DeSales Hall Seminary.  Previously, Michael worked at the Corporate Executive Board as an executive presenter of supply chain management research and at Booz Allen Hamilton where he guided information technology capital planning implementation and project management training at Federal agencies. Before his management consulting experiences, Michael was as a senior budget analyst for the District of Columbia and was a Presidential Management Fellow at the United States Department of Justice. 

Michael’s publications include "Recruit, Retain, Develop Your Team – Servant Leadership in Pastoral Ministry,” Ministry and Liturgy Magazine and “Salesian Spirituality for Corporate America: Toward Balance in the Workplace,” Ministry and Liturgy Magazine. 

Michael holds an M.Div from the Washington Theological Union, an MPA from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, and a BA in education from the State University of New York at Albany.  A native of Syracuse, New York, Michael lives in Washington, D.C.

Chuck Zech is a professor of economics in the Villanova University School of Business where he has taught since 1974. He also serves as the Director of The Center for the Study of Church Management at Villanova. He received his B.A. in Economics from St. Thomas University (MN) and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Notre Dame University. Chuck is the author or co-author of 10 books on the topic of church management, including Money Matters: Personal Giving in American Churches, Plain Talk About Churches and Money, Why Catholics Don’t Give…And What Can Be Done About It, The Parish Management Handbook, Lay Ministers and Their Spiritual Practices, Listening to the People of God: Closing, Rebuilding, and Revitalizing Parishes, Best Practices in Parish Stewardship, Best Practices in Catholic Church Ministry Performance Management; and most recently Best Practices of Catholic Pastoral and Finance Councils.

Chuck is a regular presenter at the Annual Conference of the International Catholic Stewardship Council (ICSC) and at diocesan and parish stewardship days around the country. In 2008 the ICSC awarded him “The Christian Stewardship Award”.  He has served as a consultant to a number of U.S. Catholic parishes and dioceses, and in 2010 he was awarded the “Lumen Gentium Award” by the Conference for Pastoral Planning and Council Development in recognition of his leadership in the utilization of planning and consultative processes in the church.  Chuck currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Washington Theological Union. He is the father of four grown children and lives in a Philadelphia suburb with his wife Ann, an economics professor at St. Joseph's University.
